Update on Traffic Signal at Tollgate Boulevard and Columbia Pike

By Larry Simmons

Tollgate residents were told that the Town of Thompson’s Station required the developer to have this traffic signal functioning by December 31st of 2017 or the issuance of building permits would cease.

Several weeks ago, the developer’s traffic engineering company sent a letter to the Town Administrator stating that due to huge demand for metal poles for traffic signals resulting from all the recent hurricanes, they would not have poles until late March 2018.  Obviously, that would delay operation of the traffic signal.

Tollgate residents spoke and made it clear that this was unacceptable. Other activity occurred and the traffic engineering company was able to find poles from another source.  Currently they are on track to have the signal operational by the December 31st date.

This is a great example of how our unified voice can makes a difference.
